MAVEN spacecraft launched on its mission to Mars | NON-STOP RADIO
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched on Monday at 13:28 local time (19:28 CET) from Cape Canaveral in Florida probe MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere translet and Volatile Evolution), whose task is to study the upper atmosphere of Mars. Scientists hope that through this probe they manage to confirm the theory that Mars has lost most of its atmosphere translet and also the running water under the action of the solar wind. +
MAVEN earned probe into space Atlas V rocket, from which disconnected 53 minutes after launch. Subsequently probe opened its solar panels and channeled translet in the right direction. On the orbit of Mars should reach 22 September 2014, while its distance from the planet's surface will range from 150 to 6220 km.
