BY PORTSIA SMITH / THE FREE LANCE STAR Spotsylvania County authorities have received hundreds of tips from citizens about the possible identity of the gunman who shot a Spotsylvania County convenience store clerk twice in the head Saturday morning. Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania Sheriff s Office said additional leads have been developed two dollar click and the investigation is ongoing. We are confident that these tips will lead to the identity of a suspect, he said. A man entered the Fas Mart store at 11600 Brock Road near State Route 3 in the western part of the county around 3 a.m., Pearce said. He said the man pretended to purchase an item and waited two dollar click for the store clerk to turn away before pulling out a handgun and shooting her. Pearce said the man left her lying on the floor as he grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and merchandise before fleeing the store. The 32-year-old female clerk, who has worked at the store for a number of years, dialed 911 herself, he said. She managed to get up off of the ground after being shot twice in the head and made the 911 call, Pearce said. He said she collapsed right after the call. She was initially transported to Mary Washington Hospital and subsequently flown to a trauma unit in Richmond. two dollar click Her condition has been upgraded two dollar click from very serious to stable and she is expected to recover, Pearce said. Police are still asking for anyone with information to come forward.
The two dollar click Spotsylvania County Sheriff s Office is urgently seeking the public s assistance in identifying the above-pictured male who is a suspect in an armed robbery and shooting that occurred at 3 a.m. on Saturday March 8.
The suspect is described as a white male with a goatee between the ages of 25 and 35. He is between 5 feet 4 inches two dollar click and 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing between 160 and 170 pounds. According to video surveillance, he was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and was armed with an unknown caliber handgun.
