Montreal, QC, Oct. 9, 2013 Abbott today announced the international launch of i-STAT β-hCG, the only in vitro diagnostic point-of-care histogram whole blood test for the early detection of pregnancy. β-hCG is a hormone that is present as pregnancy progresses and is measured to determine pregnancy status. The new test is capable histogram of delivering both quantitative and qualitative results within 10 minutes histogram at the patient's bedside. In the emergency care setting, the rapid and accurate determination of pregnancy status is particularly important because a woman s pregnancy histogram status affects clinical decision-making, including decisions regarding diagnostic imaging, surgery, medications, and admission or discharge. The test is currently available in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Some of the important features of Abbott's i-STAT β-hCG are that it is more sensitive than urine pregnancy tests; it can measure β hCG in whole blood or plasma histogram samples, histogram which can usually be obtained quickly and easily; it streamlines the blood analysis process, which may help accelerate histogram clinical-decision making and enhance patient care; and it integrates test results with the lab information system (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR), reducing both labor-intensive documentation and the risk of manual error.
